ROCKY MOUNTAIN KUNEKUNES

My name is Gary Farris. My wife Shelly and I raise KuneKunes pigs. We are members of the American Kunekune Breeders Association. Kunekunes are a small, friendly pig from New Zealand. They are the perfect pasture and orchard pig, great for any hobby farmer. We live in Idaho on our 8 acre farm. Our love affair with Kunekunes started in 2005 when we purchased our first Kunekune. I have always loved pigs. As a child I spent summers in Georgia with relatives who raised pigs. I have always wanted to raise pigs. In 2005 my search began. I had read about Kunekunes from New Zealand. The problem was they were extremely hard to find in the United States. We finally found a boar and quickly purchased him. "Domino" changed our lives forever. He was everything we had read about Kunekunes and much more. He is the friendliest guy; he loves to be around us, lays at our feet like a faithful dog, and loves belly rubs. Now the search began to find more. I read about Lori Enright importing Kunekunes from England. We contacted her and in 2006 purchased our second Kunekune, "Destiny". Lori and Jim Enright imported Kunekunes into the United States in 2005. Lori has been such a blessing to our lives, not only do we share a love for Kunekunes, but she has become a wonderful friend as well.
